How to Get Links for Free

If I was to sit down with you over a coffee and try to explain seo to you then I’d really try to stress to you the importance of links.

I’d tell you that a link, which is made when another website links to your website,  is the metric by which Google ranks one website over another, all other things being equal.

And that the more links you get and the higher quality links you get, then the higher your website will rank in the search engine results.

Many companies pay seo firms like mine many thousands of dollars to help them accrue and build links.  But I will show you how to get links for free.

How to Get Links for Free?  Just Ask!

That’s it.  There are many opportunities on a daily basis for you to get free links simply by asking.

Start with your suppliers.  Ask them kindly if you could have a link from their website to yours in exchange for a testimonial.

Have a look at the professional associations that you are a member of.  Is there a chance of getting a listing on their website?  Maybe you can sponsor an event of theirs.

More often than not these links stay on their website for years and most companies don’t have a problem putting  a link from their website to yours if in fact you are doing business together.

Talk to your customers?  Do they use your services in such a way that they could promote them on their sites.  You are simply limited by your creativity.

Get to it.  These links are there for the asking and each one will push your website higher in the rankings each and every day.
